Hi all
Things are mad around here so I thought I would update you all.
Bernice is potty training and had a few little accidents today but still managed most wees in the potty. No idea how on earth we are going to get her to do poo's on there, she normally saves that until she has her early afternoon nap!
I have applied today for a grant for a wheelchair accessible vehicle and copied all our payslips etc. Spoke to a very nice lady on the phone. It might be a few wks before we here- I like the look of the "i can" by sirrus.
Michael has been a very naughty lad and a very very good lad all in the space of a few days. He got caught out using richards credit card topping up his phone. He did not have permission and had memorised the number and has taken £65 in 4 wks. He was absolutely bo*****ed yesterday and now has to do jobs like washing the cars, pulling the weeds, mowing the lawn so we can save the money of having a handy man do it all. He really didnt realise how much he had spent and didnt think of it as real money but I have rarely been so angry with him, some of this money was withdrawn when richard was in hospital and he left his cards home for safe keeping....
On the plus side he has completed 5 GCSEs and has just the 5 more to do next yr. He is loving his work experience as an apprentice carpenter and is managing really well- even coped with some banter today.
Gems is doing ok in the therapeutic community and they are starting to see more of her, well, her more Gemmary self and she spent an afternoon under teachers desk the other day.
richard is still off work and he still gets tired. He goes to see occupational health next weds. there is another job for less hours but greater pay that he could do but the trust have frozen recruitment. Someone approached him about the role before he went off sick and we are praying that maybe they could consider him for the role as an internal transfer.
I am perky on the Cimzia but the legs are the issue. Sometimes the pain is dreadful and then I am on the oramorph as well as the nortryptalin, co-codamol and zomorph and then I sleep in the mornings.
Still no ill effects from the Cimzia and I go for the second loaded dose on thursday.
Tomorrow I am off to see the Big Wig Endocrine dr. I am hoping the hardness and weakness is to do with the endocrine issues and can be resolved/ treated or even to know what they are would be nice! I am going to ask for some testosterone treatment (Apparently I dont have any which is causing issues) so I can grow a beard for Jean to trim and we can plait it to raise money for NRAS!!!
The disabled facilities grant application is chugging through for our downstairs bedroom and shower.
Umm, what else, errr.
Oh yes- I am still writing the blog- www.wonkywarrior.blogspot.com
Have written several booklets for post adoption team to use and my little adoption support group is really getting going now.
Jenni xx
PS I really want to actually write a few books- any ideas where to start? We are rather skint and need some extra income.how to be a velvet bulldoser

As for the books - maybe Anthea will have some useful info for you. She has had 2 books published and could talk you through the pitfalls. Much love to you all Jeanxxxx

Thanks for the update Jenni. Sounds like family life is ticking along reasonably well, which is really good news. Hope Richard and the job transfer comes off that would be really great - fingers crossed Can t realistically help you with the book publishing, didn t J K Rowling just write Harry Potter and take it to all the publishers ? Sounds a bit basic I know, or with your attributes perhaps you could send her company an email might not be as stupid as it sounds you never know ( you are a talented lady ) Julia x

From reading your blog Jenni, I would think you will have no problem getting a book published, you have a fantastic writing style. I agree with Jean, Anthea should be able to give you some advice. Where I live, if we have a room in the house especially added on or adapted for a disabled person we can get a reduction in council tax, it may be the same for you.
Good luck with your endo appointment tomorrow.
Love, Doreen xx

Hey Jenni,
Book writing sounds a great idea - it's said everyone has a book inside them - but by the look of your blog i reckon you could fill at least a couple of bookcases!! xx
There are magazines giving advice but not being too sure I wouldnt want to recommend one - Anthea is likely to be able to advise much better than I can but how about having a look for some writing competitions to get started?
Open uni do some creative writing courses ~ may be well worth a peek
I believe Doreen's suggestion about council tax reduction applies nationally. I've helped a couple of friends apply for this reduction in the past.
Also, thought just popped in my head - well I think about it - due to RA etc we are likely to qualify for access to free directory enquiries thru BT - i do, after my GP confirmed in writing that my disabilities affect my hands etc... You get a card and pin number - just call 195 for further details. I find this really useful - they search for the number for you - might come in really handy Jenni for all those agents numbers!
Love to all the family xxxxx Good Luck! xxxxx

Hi Jenni - sorry for the quick reply but Jim has bed time hypochondria requiring drinks of water, soothing words, 3 trips up and down stairs, etc- LOL! Good luck for the endocrine appointment - will be thinking of you. Hoping for the best for Richard and his job - it sounds like it would be a wonderful solution if it works out.

Your week sounds very up and down!
Maybe you could write a book about your experiences of having RA. I know you would make it funny, so I'm sure it would go well. You could write it under a pen name, and could embellish things a bit.
Perhas you could have a column in a magazine or paper. Our paper has a weekly page in the magazine section about one of their reporters who broke her back after falling from her horse. It's quite witty, and gives an insight into the procedures she has to go through in hospital.

Hi Jenni
Sorry, I've only just caught up on this post (don't get on here too much these days, too busy on Facebook!). I think we've talked about this before; you might like to look at a site called YouWriteOn (http://www.youwriteon.com). It was this site that published my first book, and a similar site that published the second - you do have to have the manuscript already written though! But there may be opportunities to be spotted by a publisher.
It's always a good idea to have stuff published elsewhere as well - have you tried submitting short stories or articles to any magazines? Some of the women's magazines pay reasonably well although I think it's increasingly becoming more difficult to find outlets, a lot of the mags are stopping the story slots, A few articles on living with RA might be a good idea, or even problems encountered in the adoption process. Having a blog is a good selling point, so you're well on your way!
I do like Lyn's idea that you write a book about living with RA; you certainly keep us all fascinated and I think it could be a bestseller because you do manage to see the "silver linings" in things.
Good luck
Anthea x
